From kayak and deep-sea fishing to casting a line right off the public pier, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy sportfishing in Dana Point.

Dana Point Pier is an easy and inexpensive way to introduce the kids (or the grandkids!) to the sport, especially because they can get close to the water and see the fish. The possible catch variety is impressive and includes jacksmelt, shinerperch, herring, white and yellowfin croaker, California halibut, diamond turbot and Pacific mackerel. The occasional octopus, shark or ray may nibble on your bait at night!

Dana Wharf Sportfishing runs group and private deep-sea excursions ranging from a half day to overnight. For kids, free fishing and fishing clinics are available.
